Biography

Kathy Jackson is currently the Staff Human Resources Analyst for UC San Francisco's Department of Ophthalmology, within the School of Medicine. In this capacity, Kathy is responsible for all Staff Human Resources issues for the School of Medicine employees in the department. Her many and varied responsibilities include the posting of new positions, writing job descriptions, recruitment and screening of prospective employees, new employee orientation, benefits information, the yearly employee evaluation process, planning and implementation of special events (Staff Appreciation Day, Holiday Party, Faculty Welcome events, etc.), and managing all other aspects of Staff Human Resources. Since joining UCSF in August 2003, Kathy has sought out involvement in the larger campus community. She has served on the campus-wide Chancellor's Advisory Committee on Diversity - Staff Subcommittee for the past two years and will continue to do so this year. She is a graduate of the ABOG mentorship program (December 2006) and currently serves as a mentor in the UCSF Turnaround Mentorship Program, in addition to her service for the past two years as first the Secretary and then the Editor for the UCSF Staff Council. Kathy has been involved in numerous organizations throughout her career, both at UCSF and in her previous careers, at the local, regional and national level. These include the Women in Business Roundtable (WIBR) of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, Board Officer of Pros for Youth - a non-profit organization, ABOG, and the National Notary Association. She was recently elected to a two-year term as one of two delegates to CUCSA from UCSF and she is extremely interested in the overview perspective about the UC System that CUCSA will provide.
"UC is a special place partially because of its great diversity, which represents a microcosm of the overall make-up of California . I look forward to meeting everyone involved in CUCSA this year and working with them for the next two years."
