Biography

Gerard has been a proud UCLA Bruin since 1995. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the UCLA School of Engineering, and has been a UCLA staff member since 2000. He is now the I.T. Manger for the Department of English, overseeing the department's technological needs. Gerard has had the opportunity to participate in many campus groups, including the Helpdesk Consortium, and the Campus Web Publisher Group. This involvement has allowed him to work with diverse groups of staff, faculty, and students across the campus. He has also participated in working groups on campus software assessment, "greening" I.T., and is co-leading the distance learning/online collaboration group.
Gerard served on the UCLA Staff Assembly Executive Board as Vice President of Information Systems and is now President-Elect for the UCLA Staff Assembly. Under his leadership, the new Staff Assembly website and new media sites were launched, allowing the Staff Assembly to increase outreach to their members beyond their listserv, and to create a community that supports the University's mission. His goal on the UCLA Staff Assembly Executive Board is to further strengthen bonds within the UCLA staff community, to further brand and promote the Staff Assembly as an organization "For Staff, By Staff," to foster a sense of belonging, and to raise the level of staff involvement on and beyond UCLA's 419-acre campus.
"I am a strong believer in the UC system, and hope that my role on the CUCSA will not only be beneficial to staff at UCLA, but to all UC Staff, Faculty, and Students. I am honored to serve on CUCSA, and am excited to work with delegates from the other campuses, labs and the Office of the President on building a better, stronger university system."
