Substance-Abuse Treatment Symposium
At the request of Senator John Burton's office, CPRC helped plan, provided materials for, and co-sponsored a one-day symposium for legislators as well as legislative and executive branch staff concerning the latest research in substance-abuse prevention and treatment., best partactices in and the cost-effectiveness of treatment, needs and challenges of special populations and linking substance-abuse research to practice.

Policy Briefings: Research findings of particularly and timely concern may result in a live policy briefing event. Hosted by CPRC, often in collaboration with other organizations, these events are held in Sacramento as well as in other cities around the State and are targeted to policymakers, other researchers, non-profit organizations, and other interested parties. Policy Publications: CPRC produces a number of publications that document research projects and recommendations. These materials are available immediately from this website and are free of charge. CPRC askes visitors to sign into the publication page so we may track topics of particular interest. Documents vary by project. Most research findings take one or more of the following forms.

CPRC Briefs: 2-4 page policy briefs provide fast, easy access to high-level findings of research completed by UC faculty and commission by CPRC or other sources. They are ideal for policymakers and their staff to consider during policy development. A longer CPRC Policy Report on a CPRC Policy Brief may be published by CPRC for more depth.
CPRC Reports: These more in-depth research results can range from 10 to 100 pages. A shorter Policy Brief on a CPRC Policy Report topic may be simultaneously published by CPRC for an executive summary of the research findings.

Policy Analysis and Research Findings

CPRC reports research related to public policy issues. Reports are made at policy briefing events and through the publishing and distribution of written research publications. Report audiences include state officials, policy analysts, scholars, jiournalists, the California Congressional delegation, and other interested parties.
