Substance-Abuse Treatment Symposium
At the request of Senator John Burton's office, CPRC helped plan, provided materials for, and co-sponsored a one-day symposium for legislators as well as legislative and executive branch staff concerning the latest research in substance-abuse prevention and treatment., best partactices in and the cost-effectiveness of treatment, needs and challenges of special populations and linking substance-abuse research to practice.
Forum on Healthcare in Rural Communities
CPAC-funded researchers presented findings from research papers on the impact of rural telemedicine, factors influencing health-care practitioners' decisions to practice in particular rural communities, innovative county programs that increase care for the uninsured, and the impact of extending Medi-Cal eligibility to youth formerly in foster care.
Policy Research Program
Each year, CPRC provides grants to UC Faculty interested in examining important state issues. Research findings are presented in policy briefings and publications distributed to state officials and policy analysts, scholars, journalists, the California congressional delegation, and other interested parties.
