Past CPRC Grantees
The California Policy Research Center, a systemwide unit of the University of California Office of the President, is pleased to announce the recipients of its Policy Research Program awards. These grants, established and funded by the Office of the President, bring faculty expertise to bear on issues of critical importance to California. The Policy Research Program is a signature commitment of the University and CPRC to provide "research serving California."
"Many UC faculty are engaged in research on policy issues affecting the lives and livelihood of all Californians every day—how we live, work, play, and interact in community and business," states John Crapo, associate director. "With these grants, we try to engage faculty who will focus on issues of immediate relevance, offering state decision-makers and the public information of the highest quality in a timely manner.
"CPRC’S grant program is one of many ‘returns on investments’ the university provides with great pride for California, befitting the vision a world-class research and teaching system," cites CPRC director, Andres Jiménéz.
The funded projects range from assessing the quality of emergency care in the state’s hospitals to the quality of foods in public schools, public safety, public transportation costs, assessment of California’s landmark legislation promoting treatment as an alternative to incarceration for drug offenders, and effective environmental protection of coastal waters and inland watersheds.
Each project may result in a publication to be made available and posted on CPRC’s main website (www.ucop.edu/cprc) when completed. CPRC may also organize special policy briefings to key state government and public stakeholders featuring early findings on topics that are at the forefront public discussion.
