Statewide analysis

The number of UC-approved secondary Other Career Technical Industry Sector courses increased statewide from 867 to 961, an increase of 9.7 percent compared to last year. Of the 1334 public comprehensive and alternative high schools in California, 492 or 36.8 percent have one or more UC-approved Other Career Technical Industry Sector course. Presently, there are 2307 Other Career Technical Industry Sector courses offered statewide of which 41.6 percent meet the “a-g” subject requirements.

A-G subject requirements

In analyzing the “a-g” subject requirements, Other Career Technical Industry Sector courses are approved in all areas except the English (“b”) and mathematics (“c”) subject areas. There were substantial increases from the previous year in courses approved in the "d" subject area (9.8 percent), “e” subject area (9.7 percent) and “g” subject area (9.5 percent).
