The CTE disciplines

Almost 95 percent of UC-approved CTE courses fall within the laboratory science, visual and performing arts, and elective subject areas. These subject areas tend to align well with the CTE pathways, and finding connections with other subject areas, such as English, history and mathematics, has been difficult.

To overcome this challenge, UC has developed the UCCI Institutes where academic and CTE teachers come together with subject-matter experts and UC staff and faculty to create innovative, integrated CTE courses for “a-g” approval.
